DSL Hell

If you're a regular listener, you've probably noticed several outages in the station stream over the last few days. Apparently, my DSL line has been taking some time off for summer vacation. While I try to maintain a professional image for the station, I am really just a guy working out of his bedroom and making this all up as I go. Thus, I am at the mercy of my residential DSL line that serves the station computer.

I have a cable modem connection for non-station surfing, so I made some adjustments yesterday that should allow the station computer to switch from the DSL to the cable connection if the DSL goes out. The process can take a couple of minutes, but that's better than being down for several hours. I'll keep testing and try to reduce the delay.

The only good thing about these outages is how great it makes me feel when I see everyone coming back to give me another chance.

Thanks,

Zack

Do you miss me?

Well, I'm sitting in Lincoln, Nebraska in the middle of grading AP Statistics exams, so the station is on autopilot for the week. I was out of town last week as well, and everything seemed to run OK without me. Keep your fingers crossed that this week is the same.

I got quite a bit of new music added before leaving town, but I've got several CDs waiting on me when I return. Stayed tuned for The New Moon, the revival recording of Into the Woods, and solo albums from Barbara Cook and Philip Chaffin.

I've decided to give Lunch at the Theatre some time off for summer vacation, but it may run anyway this Wednesday (6/15) since I'm not there to stop it.

Don't forget to wear sunscreen!!
